Embarking on its ambitious “7/11 initiative”, an expansion plan that will see the introduction of seven new or redesigned models in the next 11 months, Hyundai introduces the Veloster Turbo, the first vehicle to come off from that agenda. Rated at 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, thanks to its 1.6-liter Gamma engine with a twin-scroll turbocharger. And since its twin-scroll, the powerplant is capable of recovering more and implement an even distribution of pressure. An additional benefit of the design is a greater fuel efficiency for the Veloster Turbo, at 27 mpg in city driving and 38 mpg on the highway.

Taken design cues from street bikes, engineers at Hyundai added two larger exhaust pipes and a new intake manifold, all for the purpose to generate a hearty sound of acceleration. Other additions include a larger front grille, along with new side skirts and rear bumper for an overall lower profile. Customized Matte Gray paint, the first for Hyundai, with a matching set of 18-inch wheels, complete the image of a true street racer.

Other special appointments such as leather seating, steering wheel-mounted paddle-shifter, and new vehicle information display cluster, all eyes will be on Hyundai this year as its Veloster Turbo set out to crush the competition.
